🗓️Date: April 8, 2026
📍Location: Hanoi, Vietnam
The roundtable brought together senior officials from Ministries of Health across departments like Planning and Finance, International Health Cooperation, Disease Prevention.
Participants engaged in discussions on the evolving landscape of global health cooperation, noting the roles, complexity, and fragmentation across multilateral and bilateral actors. As Vietnam continues its transition towards upper-middle-income status, the discussion highlighted the importance of strengthening domestic resource mobilisation and adopting strategic approaches to international engagement.
In the context of PPPR, the discussion reflected on Vietnam’s strong foundation in infectious disease prevention and its experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants also exchanged views on areas for further strengthening, including sustaining response mechanisms and enhancing system readiness for future health emergencies.
This discussion forms part of ongoing research undertaken by the Asian Collective for Health Systems (TACHS) examining the role of South and Southeast Asia in global and regional health governance, as well as emerging legal regimes for health, amidst ongoing geopolitical shifts.
