Regional Workshop on Human Resources for Health: Strengthening Competence and Compassion

Co-organized by The Asian Collective for Health Systems and WHO South East Asia Regional Office

Focused on the critical issues of strengthening the health workforce to address existing and evolving population needs, the workshop witnessed the coming together of government stakeholders from 12 countries, members of regional networks, research institutions,  universities, and practitioners, including the  National University of Singapore, United Nations University Institute of Global Health, Herd International, Nick Simons Institute, CISDI, SMERU, IHPP foundation, Mahidol University, BRAC,  World Bank, Asian Development, Gates Foundation, JHPIEGO, PATH and others., and individual experts such as Dr Srinath Reddy (Founder, Public Health Foundation of India), Dr. Suwit Wibulpolprasert (Senior Advisor on Global Health Ministry of Public Health, Thailand) and Dr. Palitha Abeykoon (Advisor, WHO and Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka).

Across 2 days in Colombo, country  presentations and small group discussions focused on building the workforce capacity to address evolving needs related to demographic and climate transitions, workforce migration across countries, and strengthening workforce regulation
