As a precursor to the launch of the Collective, a landscaping exercise was carried out to examine the existing networks and platforms in Asia in order to inform the need, objectives and vision of the Asian Collective based on the gaps and areas for further strengthening identified through analysis. The report was titled Health Networks and Platforms in Asia: A Background Analysis for The Asian Collective for Health Systems.
As a result, The Asian Collective for Health Systems was proposed to facilitate the bridging of research, practice and policy. The Collective will focus on supporting regional governance on health by connecting with key regional institutions, including multilateral organizations, development agencies, and regional groupings. Strengthening these links will enable the platform to deepen its contribution to regional policy development and promote more effective collaboration between national governments and regional bodies.
